Field Project Superintendent

Summary

The project superintendent provides on-site coordination for assigned construction projects, including the coordination subcontractors, material, equipment, and in-house labor. The superintendent ensures that specifications are being strictly followed and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget.

Job Responsibilities

Pre-Construction Phase

  • Become familiar with the plans, scope of work, and subcontractors
  • Work with the project manager to develop the project and initial 3-week look-ahead schedules
  • Take pre-work photos and document existing conditions of concern
  • Review superintendent’s binder to become familiar with the contracts, contacts, and project documents
  • Organize and schedule all trades in support of established schedule

Construction Phase

  • Represent company in a professional manner with owners, project managers, employees, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and other officials
  • Coordinate and supervise all on-site construction activities
  • Maintain a safe and clean job site
  • Proactively manage work on the critical path of the construction schedule
  • Develop and implement recovery plans when delays occur
  • Complete daily reports (including project photos), 3-week look-ahead schedules, and incident reports and distribute to appropriate individuals
  • Maintain all construction drawings and provide redlines and as-built documents and other scope updates as they occur throughout the project
  • Assure high standards of workmanship that adhere to contracted plans, specifications, and RFIs
  • Review planned work with subcontractors and review submittal information for compliance
  • Maintain awareness of weather and/or other potential delays and communicate all changes to all affected parties, including in-house labor and subcontractors, in a timely manner
  • Manage in-house forces to maintain efficient work practices and an engaged, results-oriented team
  • Coordinate delivery of materials to the job site and check materials for submittal compliance
  • Attend meetings with the owner representatives and be available for feedback, questions, and concerns
  • Assist with RFI and change order identification and estimation of cost and timeline impacts
  • Investigate and reports accidents, ensure site compliance with company safety program, and serve as on-site safety officer
  • Generate and post notifications as needed (such as construction signage regarding closures and outages)
  • Develop and complete the Whitestone Construction Services punch list prior to punch list walk with the owner
  • Manage permits and inspections to ensure all items are completed and signed off

Health and Safety

  • Enforce Whitestone Constriction Services’, client, and other regulatory agency health and safety policies with all individuals on the jobsite

Post Construction Phase

  • Close out projects deliverables and complete all punch list items
  • Finalize and turn in red lines, as-built documents, keys, and passes
  • Return permit cards and other project documents to the project manager
  • Participate in post-mortem project reviews
  • Complete any warranty items that may come up in a timely manner

General

  • Maintain familiarity with employee manual and ensure site compliance with company policies
  • Assist with estimation process, as requested
  • Support co-workers to ensure completion of other projects

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of construction field experience in roles of increasing responsibility, with at least 5 years as project superintendent
  • Hands-on experience supervising multi-family housing projects
  • Strong team-building and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Superior planning, organization, and coordination skills
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced and ever-changing construction environments
  • Computer literate
  • Exceptional references

Compensation

  • Approximately $70,000 to $85,000 per year depending on experience
  • Eligible to participate in generous profit-sharing plan
  • Accrual of up to 2 weeks of PTO the first year
